About Dr Zareen Roohi Ahmed

Dr Zareen Roohi Ahmed is a visionary entrepreneur, author and philanthropist with over 25 years of diverse experience. Holding a PhD in multiculturalism, specialising in women’s rights, her career spans significant roles from leading urban regeneration projects to advocating on international platforms in various senior roles.   

Winner of the WISE 100, NatWest Social Business Woman of the Year Award 2024, Zareen’s profound commitment to social change is exemplified in her founding of Gift Wellness Ltd., a pioneering social enterprise that challenges period poverty across the world with its natural, sustainable menstrual products.   

Zareen’s work is inspired by her daughter Halimah, who tragically passed way at the age of 19. Under her leadership, over 6 million menstrual products have reached women in need, powered by her innovative period poverty charity, the Gift Wellness Foundation and its community-led Period Angels app.  

Beyond her enterprise, Zareen has initiated a cutting-edge program to combat inequity in the workplace, blending reproductive rights and inclusion with VR technology for immersive experiences.
